Does Everyone Have a Podcast Now?

I know, I know.
But hear me out!
Yes, I'm starting a podcast. But unlike other podcasts out there, driven by people who believe down to their toes that they have Something To Say That's Worth Listening To, I'm less sure. As with most of my creative pursuits on the Internet, I just start with general shouting into the void with a general curiosity of if anyone out there can hear me.
Also, I've been considering doing this for a while and now thanks to grad school, I have a reason to. So it's I'm not thinking that my thoughts are particularly profound, but I am thinking that I have a final project to do and of the options posed to my peers and me in EDCI 560 at Purdue University in the Learning Design and Technology program, this one got me the most excited.
So I'm starting a podcast.
And if you know me in real life or even vaguely know me from the Internet, it will come to no surprise that this podcast will be about books.
Fiction. Nonfiction. Memoirs. The occasional graphic novel. Audiobooks (because yes they count as reading and I'm sure I may do an episode at some point explaining why, but for now just trust me and if you don't believe me, I may punch my way through a mountain until you do). And as much as I love new books and walking into a bookstore or library seeing all the shiny new covers and uncracked spines, as much as an advance reader copy makes me absolutely giddy with excitement, that's not what I intend this podcast to be about. Or not primarily, anyway. This podcast will shine a light on the books that are a little older. Maybe they were lucky to get paperback status and were written by a midlist author. Maybe they were all the rage with book clubs a few years ago but I never got around to reading it when all the buzz was happening (I mentioned grad school, right?). Maybe they are out of print, but if you have a local library or interlibrary loan or a used bookstore, you can still get your hands on a copy.
Because even though a book isn't new to the world, it can still be new to you. And maybe it's the exact book you've been looking for.
So that's this podcast.
Just as soon as I start it.
